The Smartest Searcher is that person who always seems to be able to lay their hands on exactly the right information when they need it – whether they be on Wikipedia in the middle of a phone conversation, or can bring up currency conversion rates on their phone at a moment’s notice. This site is all about search strategies: how to find and use information when you need it. Our world is full of useful information that is right at our fingertips, all we need to do is work out how to find and use it. Information is only truly useful when it is accurate, timely and accessible.

As the author of this site, I don’t pretend to be The Smartest Searcher myself, but I’m working towards it. I’m continually looking for ways to improve the quality of the time I spend online. One of the keys to this is minimising the amount of time searching so I can spend more time doing.
Based in Melbourne and an editor by profession, I have been testing and refining methods of finding information on the internet and the desktop for over a decade. On this site, I hope to be able to share some of the tips and strategies that I have found to be effective and I welcome any feedback, questions or suggestions you may have.
Dedicated to getting you in touch with the information you’re looking for. Hints, tips and strategies for optimizing your research so you spend less time finding and more time doing.
Don’t just look for something; search like you mean it.
